Heat exchangers - Aces Process

Aces Process is an established manufacturer specializing in the design, manufacture and supply of high-efficiency shell-and-tube heat exchangers. We combine advanced technologies and engineering expertise to provide reliable solutions for optimizing heat transfer in a wide range of industrial applications.
All products are certified and meet European quality and safety standards.

What are shell-and-tube heat exchangers?

Shell and tube heat exchangers are versatile heat transfer devices used for the efficient exchange of thermal energy between two fluids. They consist of a cylindrical shell, inside which is located a bundle of tubes - one fluid passes through the tubes, and the other circulates around them in the shell.

Types of shell-and-tube heat exchangers

1. U-shaped heat exchangers

Features:
U-shaped tubes fixed to a tube sheet, allowing free thermal expansion.

Advantages:
Lower price, simple design, easy cleaning from the casing side.

Limitations:
Difficult to clean on the pipe side, not suitable for high pressures.

Suitable for:
Processes with moderate temperature differences and low need for frequent cleaning of the tube side.

2. Straight-tube heat exchangers

Features:
Tubes fixed to two tube plates.

Advantages:
Easy access for cleaning from both sides, suitable for high pressures.

Limitations:
Need for thermal expansion compensators; higher cost.

Suitable for:
High-temperature and high-pressure processes requiring regular maintenance.

3. Single-pass, double-pass and multi-pass heat exchangers

Features:
The varying number of passes determines how many times the fluid passes through the casing.

  • Single-pass – one pass
  • Two-pass – two passes
  • Multipass – several passes

Advantages:
Multi-pass models provide higher heat exchange efficiency.

Suitable for:
Applications with different heat transfer requirements.

4. Heat exchangers with cylindrical or rectangular casing

Cylindrical:
Most common, ideal for high pressures.

Rectangular:
They offer a larger heat exchange surface in a compact space.

Suitable for:
Projects with spatial constraints or specific thermal parameters.

5. Classification by materials

  • Carbon steel – economical, suitable for non-aggressive environments
  • Stainless steel – very good corrosion resistance
  • Titanium – excellent for highly corrosive fluids
  • Alloys – according to specific processes

Aces Process offers customized configurations according to process conditions, temperatures, pressures and budget.

Advantages of shell-and-tube heat exchangers

1. Simple design and easy maintenance

  • Clear construction of casing, pipes and baffles
  • Easy cleaning and replacement of individual tubes
  • Suitable for regular inspections and service

2. Sturdy and durable construction

  • Excellent resistance to high pressures and temperatures
  • Ability to withstand thermal shock
  • Long service life with minimal maintenance costs

3. High heat exchange efficiency

  • Large number of tubes → large heat exchange area
  • Barriers create turbulence → increased efficiency
  • Possibility of single-pass and multi-pass versions

4. Wide operating range

  • Suitable for different temperatures and pressures
  • They work with both liquids and gases

5. High flexibility

  • Suitable for high viscosity, corrosive or contaminating fluids
  • Wide choice of materials according to application
  • Easily scalable

Applications

  • Oil and gas – cooling and heating of fluids
  • Chemical industry – reactions, distillation, condensation
  • Energy – steam generation, condensation
  • HVAC – air/water heating and cooling
  • Food industry – pasteurization, sterilization, cooling

Strength and hydrostatic tests

Aces Process performs rigorous hydrostatic testing on each heat exchanger, including:

  • Filling with water
  • Pressing up to 1.5× working pressure
  • Detention and visual inspection
  • Documentation of results

The test guarantees structural strength, lack of leaks and compliance with European standards.

Pricing

Pricing for shell and tube heat exchangers is determined individually according to the project parameters. Main factors:

  • Heat transfer capacity and area
  • Flow rates, temperatures, permissible pressure losses
  • Materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, titanium, alloys)
  • Number of passages, type of barriers, configuration of entrances/exits
  • Level of personalization and additional processing
  • Testing, certification, transportation and installation
